Greenlight Family Services actively recruits prospective parents and matches those parents with foster children who are waiting to be adopted through the management of the Family Development Listing of Illinois Youth in Care and The Heart Gallery of Illinois for the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS).
Youth in Care who are available for adoption come from all across the state of Illinois, from all ages, abilities and backgrounds. Many are in need of a loving home not only for themselves but also for a little brother or sister. Most children waiting to be adopted are living temporarily with relatives or other foster families. Some live in larger, professionally-staffed group settings.
By providing a child with a loving and permanent home, adoptive families have discovered the unique joy of making a life-changing difference to a child. At the same time, the decision to add a child to a family is serious and life changing. Greenlight wants to help families considering adopting Youth in Care to make sure that opening their hearts and their lives to a child is the right decision for the child and the family.
Greenlight Family Services employs a team of Family Development Specialists and Child-Centered Recruiters to help answer any questions from prospective adoptive families. Greenlight receives grant funding from the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to hire and train adoption recruiters to implement the Foundation’s evidence-based child-focused recruitment model.
