The counseling program at Greenlight Family Services, formerly called Porchlight Counseling Services, has been helping survivors of campus sexual assault since 2004.
Greenlight counseling exists to help survivors achieve healing and wholeness and to create a world in which a person’s life is not defined by the devastating experience of sexual assault. Greenlight provides counseling, advocacy, and other services to the survivors of campus sexual assault. It is Greenlight’s goal to provide high-quality, long-term counseling at no charge to the client.
Greenlight offers 20 therapy sessions at no cost for all students who have experienced sexual assault while in college or graduate school. Counseling is a very effective way to help heal the pain and work through the issues that often accompany sexual assault. Greenlight works with each survivor’s busy schedule, placing individuals with therapists who are conveniently located. Current therapist locations include downtown Chicago, the Lakeview neighborhood of Chicago, the Humboldt Park neighborhood of Chicago, The City of Evanston, and the City of Oak Park. Greenlight therapists are highly qualified Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSWs), Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs), and PhD-level therapists who specialize in sexual assault counseling and trauma informed recovery.
Unwelcome sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature in which submission to or rejection of such conduct explicitly or implicitly affects an individual’s work or school performance or creates an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work or school environment.
