Greenlight Family Services offers short term guardianship services for families who find themselves in situations where the biological parent encounters a short term setback that makes it difficult for them to handle the day to day care of their child.

These circumstances may involve situations such as financial instability, incarceration, deployment, health concerns or temporary living arrangements. Greenlight recommends short term guardianship for caregivers who need to place their child with a friend or family member on a temporary basis.

For families who adopted or gained guardianship of a youth in foster care, Greenlight Family Services can help you with your short term guardianship needs free of cost. For families caring for a child who was never in foster care, Greenlight offers short term guardianship services for a small fee. To avoid the fee, simply download and complete this form. Print a copy, sign, and save for your records. This form should not be used by families caring for a child who used to be in foster care.
